Hollywood - Hideout for Pedophiles!

Media Accused of Hollywood Sex Ring Cover-up
Charges concerning a Hollywood pedophile ring, suggests that it has been extremely difficult, especially for victims, to tell the truth about homosexual media power in the United States
By Cliff Kincaid
Friday, April 25, 2014
The mother of the alleged victim of a powerful Hollywood pedophile ring says she tried for years to interest the media in the story. Michael Egan’s mother Bonnie Mound said, "I wrote every news channel, every magazine, every talk-show host, everybody, from Oprah to ‘20/20’ to ‘60 Minutes’.... Nobody wanted to do anything because of the high-profile people involved."
One of those alleged "high-profile people" is defendant Bryan Singer, who is said to have "manipulated his power, wealth, and position in the entertainment industry to sexually abuse and exploit the underage Plaintiff [Michael Egan], "through the use of drugs, alcohol, threats, and inducements which resulted in Plaintiff suffering catastrophic psychological and emotional injuries."
A member of "Out" magazine’s list of the "Power 50" top homosexuals in the U.S., Singer is a major financial contributor to the Democratic Party. Records of the Federal Election Commission (FEC) show Singer making donations totaling $75,800 to Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), and even the North Carolina Democratic Party.
One description of his work notes that he is "one of the industry’s most successful writer/producer/directors" and that his credits include "Valkyrie," the X-Men films, and "Superman Returns." He is also the executive producer of the Emmy Award-winning medical drama "House."
Singer has strongly denied the allegations. However, a gay news and entertainment site called Queerty reports that "...Singer may have a tough time making the allegations go away, so to speak, after photos published back in 2009 were widely reported to have been taken at one of Singer’s alleged sex parties."
Coke and twink pool parties
They were allegedly called "coke and twink pool parties," with "twink" being a homosexual term for young or young-looking men, and coke a reference to the drug, not the soft drink.
The lawsuit claims, "The parties were typically sordid and featured sexual contact between adult males and the many teenage boys who were present for the parties. Further, the parties included the distribution of drugs and alcoholic beverages to the teenage boys at the party. Upon information and belief, the nature of the parties was well-known and notorious among many men in the Hollywood entertainment industry."
The lawsuit sheds "much-needed light on the homosexuality-affirming blitzkrieg spewing daily from Hollywood," notes Laurie Higgins, a cultural analyst for the Illinois Family Institute.
Spreading $5 million of his wealth around, the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts has established the Bryan Singer Division of Critical
Studies.
Egan said he was raped repeatedly at an estate owned by Marc Collins-Rector, a major figure in the entertainment business who is a convicted child abuser and now a registered sex offender. He "admitted luring five minors across state lines so he could have sex with them," according to a story about the plea, after he had fled to Spain.
The Egan lawsuit says, "I was in the hot tub with Bryan Singer and other individuals, they grope you, shove your head under water, orally molest you, then they’d rape you by the side of hot tub. You were a piece of meat. There was no relationship. You were a piece of meat."
According to the lawsuit, "He was told that he was part of the ‘group,’ referring to the numerous young males who were lured to the M & C [Rector] Estate for the purpose of sexual contact with the adult males who visited the M & C Estate ostensibly for recreational and business purposes. He was advised that those adult males controlled Hollywood and would destroy his hopes and dreams of an acting career if he did not keep them happy. They threatened to ‘eliminate’ him and his family, and told him that they were monitoring not only his phone, but those of his family members, and asserted he would be ‘destroyed’ if he ever disclosed the unconscionable activities that occurred at the Estate."
Some of the alleged abuse reportedly occurred at the Paul Mitchell estate in Kailua, Hawaii, with Collins-Rector and others. "While there," the suit says, "the Paul Mitchell estate contained firearms, drugs, and alcohol. As in California, there was frequent sexual contact by a number of adult males with teenage males and the providing of alcoholic beverages and drugs to the young males. On each occasion when Plaintiff was in Hawaii, he was required to interact with
Defendant Singer while at the Paul Mitchell estate."
Egan’s attorney is Jeff Herman, a nationally-recognized attorney for victims of sexual abuse whose previous targets have included the Roman Catholic Church. Subsequent lawsuits name producer Gary Goddard, TV executive Garth Ancier and former Disney TV president David Neuman as alleged abusers.
"This is about grown men sexually abusing children," he said.
The mother says she went to various law enforcements authorities, including the FBI, with the allegations, but that nothing was done.
Now that the Singer lawsuit has been filed, some news organizations are reporting on what The Huffington Post calls "Bryan Singer’s Wild Hollywood World," with a link to a BuzzFeed story about his penchant for "beautiful young men."
It is also being reported that plaintiff Egan is working with Amy Berg, a producer known for "Deliver Us from Evil," a film about Catholic Church sexual abuse. This film, about a Catholic priest and serial child molester who served in a number of parishes in Southern California, was nominated for an Academy Award.
It will be fascinating to see if her new film project about Hollywood sex rings gets similar acclaim.
The news blackout of the story—until the lawsuit was filed—brings to mind the comments of HBO personality Bill Maher that a "gay Mafia" runs Hollywood and dictates who succeeds and fails. The comments followed the ouster of Mozilla Firefox CEO Brendan Eich, after information was leaked that he had supported a California referendum in favor of traditional marriage.
Although attorney Jeff Herman said the suits are not about homosexuality, but rather pedophilia and child abuse, Peter LaBarbera of the group Americans for Truth notes that the founder of the modern gay rights movement, Harry Hay, was a communist who supported the North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA).
LaBarbera was recently arrested and jailed in Canada for distributing pro-family values literature on the campus of the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada.
On the conservative Sun News Network in Canada, commentator and Toronto Sun columnist Brian Lilley decried the arrest of LaBarbera and his associate Bill Whatcott for "simply speaking on the university campus."
Although the situation is not yet that dire in the U.S., the alleged cover-up of the allegations about charges concerning a Hollywood pedophile ring, going back many years, suggests that it has been extremely difficult, especially for victims, to tell the truth about homosexual media power in the United States.

What We Know So Far About the Hollywood Sex Ring Allegations
By Katy Waldman
April 22 2014
http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2014/04/22/hollywood_sex_ring_lawsuits_a_primer_on_the_allegations_against_bryan_singer.html
More names are surfacing in connection to the alleged Hollywood sex ring outlined in a lawsuit by plaintiff Michael Egan III, a 31-year-old actor from Nevada. Those names: Garth Ancier, a network exec who’s worked at Fox, the WB, and NBC; David Neuman, former president of DisneyTV, now part of the Digital Entertainment Network; and Gary Goddard, founder of a firm that designs resorts and movie-related theme park rides and erstwhile writer for TV shows like Skeleton Warriors, Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future, and Masters of the Universe.*
In three separate complaints, Egan accuses these men of "intentional infliction of emotional distress, battery, assault, and invasion of privacy." Ancier is charged with offering the aspiring actor, then in his teens, wine spiked with drugs before anally raping him. Goddard is claimed to have drugged, groped, and sodomized Egan. The case against Neuman also alleges sexual assault and rape. More broadly, the three show biz titans are accused of participating in "pedophile rings" that groomed young boys for sexual consumption in the late 1990s. Allegedly, they promised the teens a leg up in the acting world and at times physically and psychologically intimidated them in order to get sex.
(Left: Bryan Singer) These allegations come on the heels of a complaint Egan filed earlier in April against X-Men director Bryan Singer. Singer stands accused of luring the plaintiff to private gatherings at the M&C Estate in Encino, Calif., and the Paul Mitchell Estate in Hawaii; there, he allegedly plied the then-17-year-old Egan with cocaine, alcohol, weed, and professional enticements, such as modeling gigs, commercial appearances, and the chance to act in an X-Men movie. The suit says that Singer was one of several powerful Hollywood men who preyed on fresh-faced kids with dreams of making it big. Also accused of frequenting the parties were Marc Rector-Collins, former chairman of the Digital Entertainment Network (where Neuman works), and Chad Shackley, a DEN co-founder. (Rector-Collins, a registered sex offender in Florida, pleaded guilty in 2004 to charges of transporting minors across state lines to have sex.) Egan and other underage actors were added to the DEN payroll, receiving $1,500 a week for "legitimate work" and $600 a week for more nebulous services, the suit claims. A few of the ghastlier allegations
At one point, when Egan resisted sexual contact, Rector-Collins allegedly threatened him with a firearm and then locked him in a gun safe in the master bedroom closet.
A nude, intoxicated Egan was allegedly passed between Singer and Rector-Collins in a hot tub and subjected to various sex acts. When he refused to perform oral sex on Singer, the older man allegedly forced Egan’s head underwater until he submitted and then forcibly sodomized him.
The adults at the M&C Estate allegedly "strenuously pressured" the teenaged boys to ingest "copious amounts" of alcohol and drugs, and "surreptitiously administered" what they didn’t coerce. The boys were told that their predators "controlled Hollywood" and would crush their acting dreams if left unhappy. Egan claims that he in particular was warned that he and his family would be "eliminated" if he spoke up and that his phone was being monitored.
Asked why the plaintiff was bringing charges now, 15 years after the alleged harassment, Egan’s lawyer Jeff Herman denied that the timing had anything to do with the release of Singer’s latest movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past, on May 23. The statute of limitations in Hawaii runs out on April 24, he noted. (The suits were originally filed in Hawaii rather than California because the Aloha State "temporarily suspends the statute of limitations on sex abuse claims brought in civil cases.") And in a press conference Monday, Egan furnished more explanation: According to the Daily News, Egan told reporters that he’d found a trauma therapist and a lawyer he trusted to "protect" him, and he wanted to bring his tormentors to justice. "I wouldn't wish it on any of my worst enemies, to go through what I went through as a child," he said. Also, Egan says that when he and his mother originally brought the abuse to the L.A. Police Department in 1999, they did nothing.
Meanwhile, the accused men have vociferously denied any wrongdoing. "I just want everyone to know right now that the disgusting allegations made against me are COMPLETELY FALSE," Neuman tweeted on Monday. "Also very shocking in that they don't just stretch the truth, they are whole-cloth lies with zero basis in reality or truth." Singer’s attorney said in a statement that "The claims made against Bryan Singer are completely without merit." He is threatening a counter-lawsuit. Goddard’s lawyer also pronounced the claims "without merit."
This is not the first time Singer has been sued for alleged sexual misconduct. Jezebel reports:
Back in 1997, Singer had been named as a defendant—along with several other people—in a series of lawsuits filed by the parents of teenaged extras on the set of Apt Pupil, who said their children were coerced into getting naked on camera. A closer look at the complaints suggest that they were a sleazy lawyer's play for some easy money by working the parents up into a panic about Singer's sexuality. (He was referred in the court documents as "a known homosexual," as though it were an offense.) Singer actually had very little interaction with the extras, but the crew of the film were accused of "ogling, leering, and suggestive glances." The DA refused to press charges as no laws had been broken. The civil cases, with their homophobic overtones, were later thrown out.According to the New York Times, Singer’s lawyer says he has proof that Singer was not in Hawaii at the time of the alleged events. Herman disputes this claim. As for Singer, according to BuzzFeed, the director will not be doing any press to support his new movie. Correction, April 22, 2014: This post originally misidentified the name of the TV series Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future.

Pedophilia is rampant hideous epidemic in Hollywood
posted by Donna Calvin
Watchwoman: This item backs up my observances over the years that when it’s a Catholic church homosexual priest who abuses/ so do mizes a young man, the biased, anti-Christian news media wastes no time in publicizing it far and wide and as often as possible 24/7 (never mentioning, of course, that the opportunistic priest is a homosexual, merely calling him a pedophile), but here in this item, the abuse in Hollywood goes back at least six decades that they admit to and this is the FIRST we’ve heard anything about it. Note, too, that you and I have likely heard not one word about the recent sexual abuse cases exposed in Hollywood on our news. I have not, have you? How much coverage do you think this will get on your future local news programs? My guess is not much if anything at all! The media hasn’t been deceived or ignorant all this time, they’ve been complicit! The media hates Christians, while it idolizes so do mites, as long as they are Hollyweirdos engaging in the worst kinds of sinful behavior. The news media exposes the behavior by the sexually deviant who prey upon children and chooses with extreme bias which group they choose to expose of these evil sins. Plus they are threatened with losing their jobs for exposing their peers of so do mizing young boys. Read about it below… And read about it in the Holy Bible says about homosexuality. God calls it an abomination! [Leviticus 20:13] – Hollywood is the REAL hate crime of the century!!!
Recent Charges of Sexual Abuse of Children in Hollywood Just Tip of Iceberg, Experts Say
By Meaghan Murphy | FoxNews.com
If a spate of recent allegations proves true, Hollywood may have a hideous epidemic on its hands. The past two weeks have brought three separate reports of alleged child sexual abuse in the entertainment industry.
Martin Weiss, a 47-year-old Hollywood manager who represented child actors, was charged in Los Angeles on Dec. 1 with sexually abusing a former client. His accuser, who was under 12 years old during the time of the alleged abuse, reported to authorities that Weiss told him "what they were doing was common practice in the entertainment industry." Weiss has pleaded not guilty.
On Nov. 21, Fernando Rivas, 59, an award-winning composer for "Sesame Street," was arraigned on charges of coercing a child "to engage in sexually explicit conduct" in South Carolina. The Juilliard-trained composer was also charged with production and distribution of child pornography.
Registered sex offender Jason James Murphy, 35, worked as a casting agent in Hollywood for years before his past kidnapping and sexual abuse of a boy was revealed by the Los Angeles Times on Nov. 17. Murphy’s credits include placing young actors in kid-friendly fare like "Bad News Bears," "The School of Rock," "Cheaper by the Dozen 2" and the forthcoming "Three Stooges."
Revelations of this sort come as no surprise to former child star Corey Feldman.
Feldman, 40, himself a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, unflinchingly warned of the world of pedophiles who are drawn to the entertainment industry last August. "I can tell you that the No. 1 problem in Hollywood was and is and always will be pedophilia," Feldman told ABC’s Nightline. "That’s the biggest problem for children in this industry… It’s the big secret."
Another child star from an earlier era agrees that Hollywood has long had a problem with pedophilia. "When I watched that interview, a whole series of names and faces from my history went zooming through my head," Paul Peterson, 66, star of The Donna Reed Show, a sitcom popular in the 1950s and 60s, and president of A Minor Consideration, tells FHYPERLINK "http://oxnews.com/"OXNews.com. "Some of these people, who I know very well, are still in the game."
"This has been going on for a very long time," concurs former "Little House on the Prairie" star Alison Arngrim. "It was the gossip back in the ‘80s. People said, ‘Oh yeah, the Coreys, everyone’s had them.’ People talked about it like it was not a big deal."
Arngrim, 49, was referring to Feldman and his co-star in "The Lost Boys," Corey Haim, who died in March 2010 after years of drug abuse.
"I literally heard that they were ‘passed around,’" Arngrim said. "The word was that they were given drugs and being used for sex. It was awful – these were kids, they weren’t 18 yet. There were all sorts of stories about everyone from their, quote, ‘set guardians’ on down that these two had been sexually abused and were totally being corrupted in every possible way."
In fact it is the very nature of a TV or movie set that invites predators, experts tell Fox News.
"A set in Hollywood with children can become a place that attracts pedophiles because the children there may be vulnerable and less tended to," explains Beverly Hills-based psychotherapist Dr. Jenn Berman. "One thing we know about actors, psychologically speaking, is that they’re people who like a lot of attention. Kids naturally like a lot of attention, and when you put a kid on a set who is unsupervised and getting attention from someone who is powerful, it creates a vulnerability for a very dangerous situation."
Feldman, who claims he was "surrounded" by pedophiles when he was 14, says the sexual abuse by an unnamed "Hollywood mogul" led to the death of his friend Haim at the age of 38. "That person needs to be exposed, but, unfortunately, I can’t be the one to do it," Feldman told Nightline.
"There’s more than one person to blame," says Arngrim. "I’m sure that it was not just one person who sexually abused Corey Haim, and I’m sure it wasn’t only him and Corey Feldman that knew about it. I’m sure that dozens of people were aware of the situation and chose to not report it."
Arngrim, a board member and the national spokeswoman for protect.org, an organization that works to protect children from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, says greed in Hollywood allows sexual predators to flourish. "Nobody wants to stop the gravy train," says Arngrim. "If a child actor is being sexually abused by someone on the show, is the family, agents or managers – the people who are getting money out of this – going to say, ‘OK, let’s press charges’? No, because it’s going to bring the whole show to a grinding halt, and stop all the checks. So, the pressure is there is not to say anything."
"It’s almost a willing sacrifice that many parents are oblivious to – what kind of environment do they think that they’re pushing their kid into?" said Peterson. "The casting couch is a real thing, and sometimes just getting an appointment makes people do desperate things."
Arngrim, who revealed her own sexual abuse in her 2010 autobiography, "Confessions of a Prairie Bitch," explains: "I’ve heard from victims from all over the country. Everyone tells the same kind of story, everyone is told to keep it secret, everyone is threatened with something. Corey Feldman may have opened a can of worms by speaking out, but yes, this does go on."
Even though Feldman spoke candidly about the abuse, he hasn’t named the predator. "People don’t want to talk about this because they’re afraid for their careers," says Peterson. "From my perspective, what Corey did was pretty brave. It would be really wonderful if his allegations reached through all of the protective layers and identified the real people who are a part of a worldwide child pornography ring, because it’s huge and it respects no borders, just as it does not respect the age of the children involved."

Hollywood Manager Confirms Your Worst Fears About Child Actors And Pedophilia
Margaret Hartmann
12/02/11
You've probably heard more than you can handle about child molestation in the past few months — too bad, there's still more. In a case that proves the effects of the Sandusky scandal go far beyond the world of sports or even education, a Hollywood manager who specialized in child actors has been charged with sexually assaulting one of his young clients. However, he says he's nothing like all the other pedophiles we've been hearing about recently. You see, his victim was into it.
Yesterday 47-year-old Martin Weiss, who runs his own talent agency, was charged with eight felonies related to sexually abusing one of his clients, The L.A. Times reports. An 18-year-old aspiring musician and actor recently told police that Weiss sexually assaulted him from the time he was 11 or 12 until he turned 15. He says he was forced to have sex with Weiss about 30 or 40 times during that period. According to the affidavit, "The victim said Weiss told him that what they were doing was common practice in the entertainment industry, and if the victim were to tell anyone it would ruin the victim's career and hurt them both."
Weiss stopped managing the victim when he was 15, but he's worked with many other children since he started his business in the mid-1990s. He's placed children in roles on shows like iCarly, Criminal Minds, and Parenthood, and movies including Jack and Jill and The Muppets Movie. Several weeks ago the victim became more and more worried that Weiss had abused other children, particularly because he knew other boys had spent the night at his house. On November 15, the young man confronted Weiss at his apartment and taped their conversation. Police say in the recording Weiss admits he had sex with the victim, but says it wasn't abuse. The affidavit says, "Weiss intimated that he targeted the victim because the victim showed interest, and Weiss claimed the Penn State situation was different because 'those kids don't want it.'" When trying to explain that you're not a sexual predator, you probably don't want to go with one of the top 10 lines used by child abusers. It's extremely common for perpetrators to rationalize their behavior by claiming that they had consensual sex with a child, even though that's impossible.
The young man (who's a prime example of why we shouldn't waste the word "brave" on actors who do nude scenes) says he never told anyone what happened to him because "he was afraid he would not be believed, or that it would tear apart or divide his family." No other victims have come forward, but police believe Weiss abused other children, possibly even outside of the film industry. Before forming his management company, Weiss worked as a costumed performer at children's birthday parties.
Several weeks ago, news that a registered sex offender was working with children as a casting agent prompted calls for better background checks of people who work with young actors, even though there are no new abuse charges. Paula Dorn, co-founder of the BizParentz Foundation, a nonprofit group for child actors and their families, said yesterday:
"We're saddened that there was another alleged victim of this type of abuse and thankful that they're willing to speak out. It's clear we at least need the minimum requirement that other people who work with children have to meet to send a message that child actor safety is a priority."
As for Weiss, he pleaded not guilty and is being held on $800,000 bail. If convicted, he faces 34 years in prison.

Major Jewish pedophile ring exposed
Posted by John Friend
Thursday, November 29, 2012
Organized international pedophile rings have been and continue to be exposed by journalists and bloggers like aangirfan. The disgusting and deplorable case of Jimmy Savile and his depraved behavior has caused a major stir in the United Kingdom in the past few months for example. In almost all cases, these pedophile rings extend to the highest levels of government, police, military and security organizations, the media, religious institutions, and other well-to-do members of society. In almost all cases that are uncovered, the victims are demonized or dismissed, not taken seriously, or accused of embellishing or fabricating their claims of abuse, and the entire affair is swept under the rug, never to be discussed openly again. Nothing to see here guys, these kids are crazy, no need for an investigation or arrests. Or, select individuals are prosecuted, and the wider pedophile operation is covered up, as in the case of Jerry Sandusky and Penn State. A designated fall guy is paraded in front of the cameras, reassuring the gullible public that "Justice has been served" and "This horrible episode is over with, finally."
The Jewish-owned mainstream media constantly highlights instances of child abuse in the Catholic church, but almost never mentions or reports instances of child abuse and molestation in the Jewish community. Jewish media outlets, written by and for the Jewish community, do report on these cases. One such example was found today over at the Jewish magazine
Tablet in an article titled, "Panic in Jerusalem: Parents in a tight-knit neighborhood believe a pedophile ring is terrorizing children. What if it doesn’t exist?" (Also, check out "Nachlaot, where pedophiles roam free," The Times of Israel
I’d like to present some excerpts of this article, and see where it leads. Here goes:
There was no hint of pedophilia in the community before October 2010. But the Haredi community in Nahlaot now believes that the highly organized ring has been operating secretly for years—possibly generations—and is governed by an elaborate hierarchy. According to community members with whom I’ve spoken over the past year, they believe that a small number of masterminds, including the 70-year-old Vorst, a convert to Judaism who directs Ohel Sarah Imenu, an organization that facilitates Haredi conversions, used formerly abused teenagers and mentally handicapped locals as scouts for the victims. Community members believe that these scouts watched the children and parents from outdoor locations that offered prime vantage points—under the guise of tending gardens, doing calisthenics, or panhandling—and memorized their schedules, recording when the children would be unsupervised. The pedophiles noted the schedules of various homeowners, residents of Nahlaot claim, and they allegedly snuck into dozens of apartments and sheds in the neighborhood in order to abuse the children, who have pointed out these locations to their parents. Many are convinced that there are Christian missionary motivations at play here and that false converts have infiltrated their community. A number of locals told me they believe that the videos and media produced by the pedophile ring are being sold for tens of thousands of dollars or more. […
By late 2010, dozens of children had told their parents they were abused, and the circle of accused kept growing. The acts reported by the children, nearly all between the ages of 3 and 9, are incredibly horrific and often very bizarre. Virtually none of the allegations involve only one molester and one victim; the children have consistently claimed multiple offenders and multiple victims. There are reports of orgies involving as many as 20 adults and more than a dozen children. There were, allegedly, frequent raping and forced sodomy of children as young as 2 years old. The children claim that various objects—including large branches, semi-automatic rifles, screwdrivers, and other carpenter’s tools—were forcibly stuck up their anuses and other orifices; that knives were held to their throats; that they were told that if they didn’t voluntarily return to be raped, they would be "chopped up into little pieces," or that their entire families would be murdered. They claim that they were shown, by way of threat, the guns that would be used for this purpose and told that cameras had been installed in their homes to ascertain their silence. The children claim that they were, on various occasions, bound up and beaten, held on top of open flames, lashed with sticks, burned with chemicals, given soft drinks spiked with hallucinogens, and injected with drugs
The majority of the allegations include reports of video-recording and photography, and the children say they were forced to watch pornographic movies and violent sexual encounters between their abusers. Some children say they were abducted at night from their homes, viciously abused, and returned to their beds. Others say they were abducted from school and then returned. Babysitters were said to be threatened with severe physical punishment or death unless they brought the children in their care to the pedophiles. There are reports of witches, magic doors, secret basements, and large dogs used to intimidate the children. Many allegations include elements of ritual and Christian abuse, including forced prostration and benedictions, sexual acts involving massive iron crosses, and various other forms of foreign worship. Some children say they were taken to a nearby church, where they were abused by priests, as well as other undercover Christians. […
The police discredited all but nine of the children’s testimonies, deeming them unreliable and unsuitable as evidence, which community members began to see as indicating, alternately, that the police did not take their claims seriously, that there was considerable anti-Haredi bias, that proper personnel was not assigned to the cause, that they stalled and delayed investigations, "lost" paperwork, and did not promptly collect potential evidence. The police repeatedly refused or ignored my requests for comment. […]
What’s absolutely clear is that the children involved believe they were abused. "To date, I have not met anyone who has spoken to the kids who has any doubts that this is true," Liebowitz, the rabbi, told me. "I know when a child lies," Steinherz added. "And these children are not lying." Many in the community believe the children must be telling the truth, if only because they can imagine no other way the children could know about such graphic sexual activity. How else would Haredi children know about such concepts like television and movies, not to mention pornography? The majority of community members I spoke to said the police are corrupt. Steinherz and others claim they have been threatened by accused pedophiles, which they believe further proves their guilt. "It’s all true," she said of the children’s allegations. "Every single thing is true." […]
Now here is where the article gets really… interesting. The author begins to downplay the victims’ testimony, arguing that no physical evidence exists of sexual abuse and introducing the idea that these kids may be making up their allegations entirely. Sound familiar? (See here and here)
Cases similar to Nahlaot’s, many whose particulars are even more extreme, have occurred frequently in the past, particularly in the 1980s and early 1990s, with as many as 500 or more children reporting horrific and fantastic abuse at the hands of dozens, or even hundreds, of adults. In order to classify and recognize these cases, the FBI’s Kenneth Lanning, who worked in the Behavioral Science Unit from 1981 until 2000, developed a model that describes what he termed "multi-dimensional sex rings." (This term, Lanning admits, never really caught on; more frequently used is "ritual abuse," "organized abuse," or "satanic/sadistic ritual abuse.") The model delineates four criteria: multiple offenders and multiple victims who are considerably younger than "standard" pedophile victims; the victims are controlled and coerced primarily through fear; the abuse occurs in communities that are insular and ultra-conservative; and at least some of the abuse in question is extreme, grotesque, or incorporates ritualistic aspects.
A study of past cases reveals startling similarities: The accusation always begins with a single complaint and is always parent-driven. The children’s accounts contain fabulous or impossible elements—magic tunnels, bullets that find their target, walls and people that disappear, and so on. The conspiracies being alleged are far-reaching and highly improbable. There are untrained professionals involved driving the investigations. There are nearly always claims of video recording and of being forced to watch porn and adults having sex.
This history is relevant because, to borrow Lanning’s term, a multi-dimensional sex ring has never once been substantiated. Never, despite the enormity of the crimes in question, and despite the numbers of times they’ve been alleged, has any independently corroborated evidence been found. Many of the children who testified in these cases have, as adults, recanted their testimonies, and courts have, over the years, turned over convictions that were based purely on children’s testimonies. In the most famous of these cases—the
McMartin preschool trial in California, which ran from 1984 through 1990 and in which more than 350 children claimed they had been abused at their daycare center—every single allegation was thrown out.
Before Noa Klein went to the police, no parents or any adult in Nahlaot had ever made an official complaint to police alleging anything like this. No parent claimed to notice their child came home horrifically abused, beaten, or raped, despite the fact that the abuse allegedly went on for years and is of an extraordinarily violent nature. No child was reported missing. Indeed, up until October 2010, no adult ever noticed anything amiss, despite the tightness of Nahlaot’s layout, and despite the children’s reports that they were herded up in broad daylight. No teacher ever spoke up; nobody noticed a dozen children missing from school for hours at a time, then returned after bouts of violent sexual abuse. Many of the apartments where the acts allegedly took place are immediately adjacent to other homes, but no neighbors ever noticed that anything was amiss. No forensic evidence has been found. No incriminating videos or any sort of media have been discovered, despite computers and hard drives of the accused being seized (or stolen), and despite nearly every alleged act being videotaped or photographed. (In fact, according to Lanning, no media indicating the existence of a multi-dimensional sex ring has ever been found, despite very extensive seizures of child pornography worldwide.) None of this means that instances of abuse did not occur. But the question of whether one or more children were molested has been minimized by the hunt for a massive pedophile ring.
Many in the community see the absence of evidence as proof that the police or the judge are suppressing the evidence. "The only people who have the computers are the police," one resident told me. "And all the kids say there was video involved, and all the computers have been confiscated, yet they’ve shown us nothing." Steinherz claims that some of the accused are computer geniuses, and that they’ve encrypted the material so that it can’t be accessed, and that the police have allowed family members of the accused to hide or destroy potential evidence. […]
Did this man do this to you? To a child, this is highly suggestive, especially coming from a panicked parent convinced something has in fact happened. Some children who admitted something had happened to them were given candy or toys. Parents showed their children pictures of suspects and asked if these men had done anything to them. Many children who denied being abused were repeatedly questioned, especially after a suspect’s guilt was seemingly established. A mother, who has requested anonymity, recounted her reaction when told that Sid "Skippy" Marcus had allegedly abused her children: "We asked our kids, and they were like no, no, no, no. And the day Skippy was arrested … I asked my son: Did Skippy ever do anything immodest to you? And he goes like this [nodding]."
Overzealous investigators, which can include parents, therapists, and even other children, can seriously affect a child’s account or even memory of what has happened, especially when those investigators are convinced that the child in question has indeed been abused and it’s their job to get the child to admit it. "Many of these investigations are started by the parents who are not properly investigating," said Lanning. "They’re just trying to find out what happened to their kid." And they will not stop until they do so. "A single complaint, whether true or not, can set off a moral panic," Rabinowitz, the journalist, told me. "Which can quickly get out of control." […]
But the required logistics of a secret pedophile ring this size—the organization necessary to continually and extensively abuse an entire demographic of a whole neighborhood without being discovered—remains the least credible aspect of the allegations. The difficulty of keeping a conspiracy a secret increases exponentially with each additional member, and with as many as 70 it’s virtually impossible. "You cannot be engaged in this kind of activity for this long and leave behind little or no corroborative evidence," Lanning said. "The more people involved in a crime, the greater the crime, the greater the likelihood that there’s going to be some kind of corroborative evidence left behind, physical evidence."
After expressing the findings of my early research, I told Steinherz, the therapist, that I needed corroborative evidence aside from the children’s testimony in order to report that there was indeed a pedophile ring in Nahlaot. The evidence I was ultimately provided or made aware of included: court documentation that strongly suggested police incompetence or corruption; archived web pages that showed that some of the accused had lied about not knowing each other; medical records of various ailments; pictures the children drew; the detailed account of a therapist named Levana Khalili, a witness for the prosecution; and stories of corroboration among the children. None was evidence of a pedophile ring; all was material that reinforced an already assumed narrative. Yet in all my conversations with Steinherz, parents, rabbis, therapists, and community organizers, not once was it acknowledged that these might be the products of a child’s imagination.
